Welcome 2019! 2018 was a huge success!

I told you guys a year ago, I was going to transform in an untraditional way.  Well, over 40 pounds later, I couldn't be feeling better. Here's some of the highlights of the past year: I stopped doing cardio I go to the gym 3 days a week, but am in and out in under 25 minutes, and most of that is rest. I never sweat at the gym Ate more sweets than I have ever in my entire life Was rarely hungry and often had trouble eating all the food I was supposed to Am over 40 pounds lighter Have more muscle mass than at any point in my life Did my first pullups of my life All my vitals and bloodwork have vastly improved I'm including the link to my time with my doctor during my annual checkup.  As you can see, he surprised me with a sweet trophy to take home! Just wait for 2019.  This is when things are get even more intense!   I'm ready for the couch and I'm ready for my cheesecake! Motto for the coming year:  LAZY, NOT IDLE! ...

Follow up from my post last week! So basically went crazy for a few days and didn't watch at all what I was eating. My weight rocketed back up to where I was before I began my Thanksgiving challenge. I had essentially gained 5.5 pounds with my bingeing. My doctor basically just told me, you deserve it. Your body is craving it. It's all water weight. When you're done getting your fill, we'll got back to your normal diet and it will not only within a day or two be back where you were, but it will be easier to lose now because you've just highly increased your metabolism with all the eating. What? My normal reaction to failing on a diet is just give in and give up. Instead, my doctor was just like, "Yep, been waiting for this. Let's move on." Ut oh! I had a slip up on my diet!

Love my doctor  Cyrus Peikari . I admit that I failed miserably last night. I couldn't sleep and binged up a storm as I watched TV into the wee hours. I was actually 1200 calories over my goal yesterday. Why am I posting such a failure? Two reasons: 1. For those making their own path to realize that it ain't a straight line. You shouldn't see people like me posting and think it's all easy. Lazy yes. But not always easy. Ask my doctor. In the almost 9 months I've been  working with him, I can't begin to tell you how many issues I've had. I've cried about some of them and been in severe pain over others. But in the end, I've powered past all of them with my doctor's help and a positive attitude. 2. The response from my doctor for my binge last night, which would be surprising to most people? Rather than making me feel bad or shaming me. What did he say? "Sounds like you deserved it!" And then on the practical side what does he sug...
Doc has thrown down the gauntlet. Current plan has me losing 17.5 more pounds by Thanksgiving, all while increasing strength at the gym. By definition, if I'm lifting more that means it has to be all fat loss. It would be easy to mention this after it happened if I succeeded. But that's an easy way out. And I expect my friends to keep me honest. So here goes nothing! Wish me luck. Looking forward to a hefty Thanksgiving meal already!

Restaurant Quality Grilled Salmon!

Tonight we got a gorgeous piece of salmon on the grill.  Make sure to get antibiotic free.  If possible get wild caught.  You can get these 3 lb plus pieces of salmon at Costco or Sam's club pretty reasonably.  A piece like this might cost $25 to $30.  That might sound expensive at first, but keep in mind restaurant sizes are between 3 to 6 ounces normally.  That means you're getting maybe 8 to 12 restaurant portions (or more) which normally would run you $15 to $20 each (or more) in the restaurant.  I steamed up some broccoli to go with it and now we're talking! Here's the marinade recipe: This is for around a 3 lb salmon filet.  You can half it if you like. 4 tablespoons lemon juice 6 cloves of garlic minced 1  teaspoon  salt 6 tablespoons olive oil 1 teaspoon black pepper 2 tablespoons Old Bay Soak for a day or two and then grill 3...

It's Raining! Deal with it!

Just a real short post here.  Lot's been going on in my personal life and haven't been able to post the way I've wanted to.  Hopefully that will change shortly.  But I did want to post one quick tip/inspiration. Last time I was making some burgers and it was freezing and I was out there anyhow.  Well, the weather has turned and now it's warmer, but it's raining.  OH WELL!  And that's what you got to tell your ego.  Sometimes it's okay to give your ego a little slap or two upside the head when it gets in the way of what you're trying to accomplish. So tip of the day.  Don't make up any FAKE excuses for why you can't achieve your goals. Until next time!

Preparing Food Ahead of Time is Key!

Preparing food ahead of time is key!  And you need to make foods you actually like!  And in my case I like grilled burgers so much more than the broiled or fried ones.  So...if it's cold and dark....well it's cold and dark!  DEAL WITH IT!  LOL  And by the way, these are organic and grass fed...just because you should. TIP:  Don't make burgers difficult.  For the best burgers, don't massage the meat (This makes the meat tough).  Just form patties, slightly indented to help keep them flat.  Then, right before it hits the grill, sprinkle the side hitting the grill liberally with kosher salt and fresh ground pepper.  Before flipping, salt and pepper the other side.  Best burgers you've had, I guarantee!
